Marcel Mate was born in Budapest and handles business development in the UK for Prodigium Pictures. He is a producer, writer and entrepreneur.
After finishing the European Film College, he started working at Makropol (a local Virtual Reality company) as Personal Assistant to Producer. He assisted on creating Doom Room, which was featured on Vice, Screen Daily, Information, Politiken, Berlingske, Kunstnen.hu and Teater 1.
He went on to assist the CEO in Scandinavia’s biggest film facility. During that time, he got involved with three Danish feature films as well. He assisted on a Danish-Swedish feature film that won ‘Un Certain Regard’ in Cannes in 2018. The company’s VFX works were mentioned in The Hollywood Reporter as ‘superlative.’
After finishing his Bachelor’s degree in Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Copenhagen, he moved to London to work on a British feature film.
Through his assistance experience, he gained numerous perspectives on running local and international businesses in the film industry, and he continues to work with different companies in the film sector. For Prodigium, Marcel specializes in porting the communication strategy and entertainment expertise that Prodigium has developed in Hollywood to British businesses.
In his spare time, he mentors teenagers to make short films every week.
