How it started
Prodigium founders Tobias Deml and Hiroki Kamada met as immigrant film students, and in 2011 they founded Prodigium with a dream of doing big things in Hollywood. It was around this time that Tobias had a near-death experience, which changed his perspective on filmmaking and made him question what kind of legacy he wanted to leave behind. This is how the idea of a Social Impact Entertainment company was born.

Prodigium Pictures is founded in Los Angeles, California by an international team consisting of Tobias Deml, Hiroki Kamada and Max Deml.

Initial Pivot to Social Impact Entertainment: Prodigium begins to apply media effects research in its work, and invests in R&D on how its productions will affect audiences.

Prodigium co-founder, Hiroki Kamada, co-founds VOOK, a media platform for Japanese filmmakers. Vook is now the largest filmmaking platform in Japan.

We attend the SBCC Summit in Bali, Indonesia to gain cutting edge insights into Social Behavioral Change Communication, spend time with Miguel Sabido who pioneered the space in the 1970s, and apply these findings to our mainstream entertainment work.
