Narrated by Kieran Culkin (HBO’s “Succession”), directed by Prodigium co-founder Tobias Deml and produced by Tessa Byford.
In 2021, Reddit users took a stand against Wall Street by purchasing stock in beloved but failing companies such as GameStop and AMC. But what began as a series of memes soon snowballed into an unprecedented fight against the ruling class of the American financial system. This “short squeeze” provided windfalls for some and devastating losses for others, but ultimately opened a larger portal revealing an ugly Wall Street secret: powerful firms have rigged the system against everyday investors.
Featuring interviews with former insiders and whistleblowers working to expose decades of fraud, corruption and rampant conflicts of interest, Gaming Wall Street gives an inside look at the viral phenomenon that turned out to be only the tip of a dark iceberg.
Prodigium Pictures originated the project in late 2020, and teamed up with Biltmore Films in order to go deeper, into the hidden world underneath the story that everyone knew. The production partnered with Gunpowder & Sky and HBO Max joined the project at the onset of post-production. Premiered on HBO Max on March 3, 2022.
