WHILL has been the pioneer in the MaaS industry providing people with access to innovative and elegantly designed personal mobility solution. WHILL further improved their model C device and planed to release model C2 in 2020. So we partnered up with WHILL to create two use cases videos to present lifestyle WHILL C-2 could offer to its users.
WHILL Lark Launch Video
Capturing a moment of joy and a sense of freedom
When we started this project, it was a collaborative teamwork of the client, a creative director, a photographer, and us. We had a lot of decisions to make which included locations, casting choices, wardrobes and so on, but our objective was clear and simple. It is this. We needed to communicate a very specific and ideal lifestyle of prospective customers and existing customers. They wanted to live freely and joyfully without feeling they were a burden to friends and their families. A free and independent lifestyle was our shared vision and the goal of each video. So a lot of creative decisions were based on real user testimonials to illustrate how WHILL C2 can offer solutions to a lot of real pain points for these users.
If you are not using a device like WHILL daily, some of these pain points may be overlooked when you watched our videos because it was directed to the very specific customer demographics. Each shot is designed with a specific intention to communicate with niche but sizable market audiences to make sure they understand the values of our solution.
WHILL C2 Behind the scenes

The production took place amidst the pandemic. So we kept the crew to absolute minimum to avoid being a crowd. But we also knew that we had to keep certain level of cinematic quality to entertain our audiences. Larger equipment wasn’t suited as we had to carry them to multiple locations around Yokohama area and we simply did not have enough people. We contacted a local camera rental house and discussed an ideal equipment package that was compact and mobile enough for the crew of 3.
What we ended up rigging was a combination of smaller camera body (Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K) with a set of cinema lenses (Atlas Anamorphic Cinema Lenses). This enabled us to achieve a cinematic look of videos while being very appropriate for a smaller crew size.
